THE SET

If any player has a natural and the dealer does not, the dealer pays that player one and a half times their stake. If the dealer has a natural, all players who do not have naturals have their bets collected instantly (but no additional amount). If both the dealer and another player have naturals, the stake is a tie, and the player’s chips are returned.
If the dealer’s top card is a ten or an ace, they must check their bottom card to see if the two cards combine to produce a natural. They do not look at the face-down card until it is the dealer’s turn to play if the face-up card is not a ten or an ace.
THE PLAY EVENT
The player on the left takes the first turn and must choose between “standing” (not asking for another card) and “hitting” (taking another card) (Ask for another card if you want to come closer to 21, or even hit 21 exactly.) Thus, a player may either stand on the two cards dealt to them, or ask the dealer for more cards, one by one, until deciding whether to stand on the total (if it is less than 21) or go “bust” (if it is over 21). In the latter case, the player loses and the wager is collected by the dealer. After that, the dealer moves on to the next player to their left and serves them in the same manner.
Because the player can count the ace as a 1 or 11, and draw or not draw cards, a “soft hand” consists of an ace plus a card other than a ten-card. Although a count of 17 is a strong hand, the player may opt to draw for a higher total. If the draw treats the ace as an 11 and creates a bust hand, the player just counts the ace as a 1 and continues to play by standing or “hitting” (asking the dealer for additional cards, one at a time).
THE DEALERS’ GAME
After each player has been served, the dealer’s face-down card is revealed. They must take a card if the total is less than 16. The dealer must keep taking cards until the total is 17 or higher, at which point he or she must stand. If the dealer has an ace and counting it as 11 would boost the total to 17 or more (but not more than 21), the dealer must stand. The dealer’s decisions are automated on all plays, although the player can always take one or more cards.
INTENTIONS
When it’s a player’s turn, they can say “Hit” or signal for a card by scratching the table with a finger or two in a motion toward themselves, or by waving their hand in the same motion as someone saying “Come here!” They can say “Stand” or “No more” or move their hand sideways, palm down, and slightly above the table when it’s time to stand.

When a player’s first two cards are the same denomination, such as two jacks or two sixes, they can regard them as two independent hands when it’s their turn. The initial wager amount is then placed on one of the cards, and an equal amount must be bet on the other card. The left hand is played first, with the player standing or hitting one or more times; the right hand is subsequently played. As a result, the two hands are dealt with individually, and the dealer decides on each on its own merits.
